MAGNESIA
Magnesia Prefecture, Thessaly Region
South of Volos, near the coast of the Pagasitic Gulf (coastal vineyards), on gentle slopes and deep sandy-clay soils, the most widespread Greek white variety, Roditis, is cultivated. Cultivation is carried out both in traditional high-bodied cups and in a few newer linear plantings. In the Anchialos vineyard, the Roditis clone differs from the classic one, as it does not acquire the characteristic reddish color ("green Roditis") upon ripening. Small quantities of Savvatianos complete the composition of the varieties in the area.
