Characteristics

Robola is the most widespread variety on the island, thriving in poor, barren soils.
The wine is traditionally described as “Vino di Sasso” (stone wine) by the Italians, due to the stony soil. There are old, self-grown vines on the mountain slopes of Ainos.
Wine production is also permitted by wineries outside the zone, as long as they are
located in Kefalonia.
