In the northern Aegean, the island of Limnos stands out for the extensive cultivation
of the white variety Muscat of Alexandria, which predominates mainly in the central
and southern part of the island, protected from the harsh northern winds. The
island, with its gentle hills and favorable Mediterranean climate, is particularly
conducive to organic farming, making the area a model of natural and sustainable
winemaking. The PDO Lemnos zone, established in 1982, now includes, in addition to
dry, semi-dry and semi-sweet white wines, the production of red wines from the
local variety Limnio (also known as Kalampaki). The sweet red wines, which combine
Limnio with Muscat of Alexandria, require a long aging of at least 24 months in oak
barrels, revealing unique complexity and depth over time.

PDO Limnos combines tradition with sustainability, offering wines that stand out for
their authenticity, their intense aromatic character and their unique relationship
with the island’s special terroir.
