Location: Areas of Monemvasia, Asopos, Voion and Mola in southeastern Laconia.
Epidaurus Limira Peninsula, with the capes of Malea (Cape Malia) and Tainaro that
form the Laconian Gulf.

History & Characteristics

Revival of the historical sweet wine
“Malvasia” which originated in the Monemvasia region.

The Monemvasia variety also participates in the PDO Paros (white and red).
Mandatory oxidative aging of at least 2 years (longer aging in multiples of 4 years). Mixing of different vintages is allowed, with mandatory indication of the youngest. The double name “Monemvasia – Malvasia” is mandatory and appears in a uniform manner including consistent form shape and overall apperance on all labels.
