EVIA

Euboea Island, Central Greece Region

Evia, after Crete, is the second largest island in Greece. Its topography is complex, with alternating hills, mountains, meadows and plains, while significant climatic differences are observed from north to south. The northern part of the island is the coldest, while the southern part, near Karystos, has a climate and morphology reminiscent of the Cyclades, with a drier, warmer and windier environment. The warmest part of the island is located around the city of Chalkida, in the central part. The cultivated varieties are mainly those found in the Cyclades, as well as in other areas of Central Greece.
